Using the Portal
How-to guides for the people who model the catalog and run things day to day in the Provision Portal (and, where you’d rather script it, the equivalent admin API).
The portal is organised into six groups in the left nav — Insights, Catalog, Sales, Customers, Compliance and Settings. You only see the groups your role can use, so your nav may be shorter than the full list below.
Who can do what
Section titled “Who can do what”The portal is built around four roles. The role in parentheses on each task is the minimum — an Administrator can do everything.
| Role | Sees | Job |
|---|---|---|
| Administrator | Everything | Setup, catalog, team & seats, plus Compliance and Settings |
| Sales | Insights, Catalog, Sales, Customers | Sell, renew and upsell: entitlements, orders, codes, customers |
| Support | Insights, Catalog, Sales, Customers | Fix: renewals, credit top-ups, activation releases, approve/unblock users |
| Viewer | Insights, Catalog, Sales, Customers (read-only) | Watch the business — dashboards, reports and record browsing |
The role vocabulary is fixed — there’s no custom-role builder. Granular roles (Sales, Support, Viewer) require the role-based permissions feature on your plan; without it, everyone with portal access is an Administrator.
The tasks
Section titled “The tasks”- Set up your account & team — environments, invite people, assign roles and seats. (Admin)
- Model products & features — the catalog, the feature catalog, monitored assets and versioning.
- Build plans & bundles — tiers and limits, packaged into the offerings customers buy.
- Author & publish entitlements — customers, orders, templates and activation codes. (Sales)
- Set entitlement policies — subscription, trial, time-restricted, seats and lease.
- Renewals, credits & activations — renew, top up credits, release activations, revoke licenses, approve and unblock users. (Support)
- The end-user portal — the self-service portal where your customers’ users activate and see their licenses.
- Reports & dashboards — usage by entitlement and session activity. (Viewer and up)
- Administer access & settings — users, roles, API credentials, webhooks and environments. (Admin)
